Title
Measure A/B Consolidated Biological Mitigation Project
Description
The two project sites (referred to as the Tennant Marsh Site and the Riverside Drive Site) are located along Coyote Creek in South San Jose, Santa Clara County. The Tennant Marsh Site is part of the existing Tennant Road Marsh which is located adjacent to the U.S. 101/Route 85 freeway-to-freeway interchange; and the Riverside Drive site is located along Coyote Creek adjacent to the northerly portion of the Coyote Creek Golf Course. Both sites are owned by the Santa Clara County Parks and Recreation Department. The project involves the removal of a noxious weed, giant cane (Arundo donax), as well as the creation and enhancement of wetland, riparian, and shaded riverine aquatic habitat. The project compensates for significant biotic impacts associated with publicly-funded transit and highway improvement projects which are being implemented (or are proposed for implementation) in Santa Clara County, California. The California Department of Fish and Game is executing a Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement Number R3-2001-0141 pursuant to section 1601 of the Fish and Game Code to the project operator, Jeff Funk/Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority.
