Document Description
The proposed project is an update of the Housing Element adopted in 2006. A Draft 2009-2014 Housing Element Update has been prepared by the City to comply with the legal mandate that requires each local government to adequately plan to meet the existing and projected housing needs of all economic segments of the community. The Housing Element is being prepared pursuant to Government Code Section 65580-65589.8. The proposed Housing Element update sets forth goals, policies, objectives, and programs that together evidence the ability to meet the City's fair share of regional housing needs by the year 2014. The number assigned to the City of Portola pursuant to the Regional Housing Needs Allocation (PHNA) process is 25 new dwelling units. The Housing Element does not require the construction of these units but rather establishes policies that will allow for and support their development.
