- Smart Building Ecosystem Research Needs to Increase Load Responsiveness
- Description
- The purpose of this Work Authorization (WA) is to: characterize the capabilities and performance of smart building systems, determine what enhancements or additional features to the systems are needed to enable greater grid flexibility, and recommend RD&D activities that EPIC may sponsor in order to spur greater load flexibility through smart building solutions. In this WA, the terms "smart building systems" or "smart building solutions" encompass both traditional legacy building automation systems (BAS) as well as newer alternative IoT solutions. This WA supports research to address Subtheme 1.4 of the EPIC 2018-2020 Triennial Investment Plan: Enable Integration of Building and Equipment Controls and Automation.
