- Water-Use and Irrigation Efficiency Project
- Description
- The Water-Use and irrigation Efficiency Project (the Project) consists of three project components, which are: *Elk Reserve Turnouts *West Side Canal Lining *Semitropic Pipeline Turnout The Elk Reserve Turnouts consist of constructing three turnout connections along the eastern side of the East Side Canal to provide water to the Tule Elk State Natural Reserve. The three turnouts are termed the SWP BV2 Turnout, the Well 2 Turnout, and the Booster Pump Turnout. The District's West Side Canal Lining consists of constructing and operating a turnout from Semitropic Water Storage District's existing ten-foot diameter pipeline (referred to as the Semitropic Pipeline) to the West Side Canal. Operation of the Semitropic Pipeline Turnout will eliminate the need for District use of up to 2.5 miles of the West Side Canal, thus reducing water seepage and evaporation over that length of the West Side Canal.
