Title
Prospect Island Tidal Habitat Restoration Project
Description
The project proposes to restore tidal action to 1,528 acres on the currently flooded Prospect Island in the Sacramento River Delta to improve productivity for Delta smelt and salmonid species. Project activities would include clearing and invasive species control; excavation of tidal slough channels; removal of a portion of an internal cross levee; placement of excavated soils into remnant agricultural ditches and newly constructed berms and benches; dredging of the spur channel between Miner Slough and the southern portion of the site; limited planting and revegetation; and excavation of two levee breaches to establish tidal connectivity with Miner Slough.
