Project Info
- Title
- Bear Gulch Weir Project
- Description
- CA Water Service Company (Cal Water) operates a water diversion facility for municipal water supply on lower Bear Gulch Creek. The facility (Station 3) is located immediately upstream of a privately maintained bridge crossing that services a residence at 321 Manzanita. Cal Water developed an operations plan that includes new minimum bypass flow requirements for Station 3 in consultation with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) and the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS). Cal Water is installing a system to accurately gage daily stream flows at Station 3, including the bypass flow downstream of the Station 3 water intake. The weir design and location will provide fish passage for both adult and juvenile salmonids and it will meet approach velocity criteria for fish protection at the intake fish screen. The CDFW is executing a Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement Number 1600-2013-0036-3 pursuant to Section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to Mark Bloom, Calwater.
