Santa Ana River Bridge Seismic Retrofit and Routine Maintenance Project

Description

CDFW has executed Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement No. 1600-2016-0234-R6, pursuant to section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the project applicant, The Metropolitan Water District of Southern CA. Project consists of replacing the existing expansion joint with a bellows joint at the Santa Ana River Bridge Crossing of the Upper Feeder pipeline. Construction activities include vegetation removal of mature southern willow/cottonwood woodland (0.09 acres) and grading of the 40 x 100-foot work area, set-up of heavy construction equipment, scheduled dewatering discharges of 40 acre feet (13 million gallons) at flow rates of 4-6 cubic feet per second form two pipeline locations along the Santa Ana River, replacement of the existing expansion join, inspection of the new bellows joint, and clean-up of the construction site.
