Upper Butte Basin Wildlife Area Draft Land Management Plan (LMP)

Description

CDFW has executed Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement No. 1600-2018-0122-R2,, pursuant to section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the project Applicant, California Department of Fish and Wildlife, Upper Butte Basin Wildlife Area. The projet is limited to the following activities: the levee and road on the north bank of Howard Slough will be cut to install a forty-eight inch diameter polyethylene pipe and two concrete risers; a temporary sediment barrier will be placed across the waterway immediately north of Howard Slough to act as a barrier to water entering the construction site. Water in the waterway will be diverted through an alreayd existing water control structure upstream of the proposed construction site; existing riparian vegetation on both sides of the north levee on Howard Slough at the project site will be removed to facilitate construction and activities; a new swale will be ocnstructed on the south side of the levee. The swale will be approximately 35 feet long; 3 feet wide at the bottom and the sides will be sloped 1:1; approximately sized riprap; appropriately size riprap wil also be placed around both concrete risers to minimize erosion and protect the banks of levee; the levee road will restore within the project area upon completion of installation of the pipe and risers.
