- California Highway Patrol Oceanside Replacement Office Project
- Description
- The purpose of the Project is to continue to provide high-level patrol and law enforcement services to the City of Oceanside and surrounding areas while meeting the expanding needs of the CHP. The Project would include the acquisition of a 2.2 acre plot of land for the purpose of constructing and operating a new LEED-certified (Silver) two-story, 21,710 square feet office building. In addition to the office building, a one-story automobile servide building, along with a generator, radio equipment, and volatile equipment building, would be located on teh southwest corner of the construction boundary. The automobile service building would be designed without openings on the western side to limit noise levels on the adjacent residential land use. A seperate canopied facility would be constructed on the western portion of the Project site directly west of the office building. a 120 ft communication tower would be constructed directly east of the equipment storage facility. A total of 117 surface parking spaces, including 2 handicap spaces, 16 motorcycle parking spaces, and 68 CHP parking spaces, would be constructed at the Project site. Site work would generally involve grubbing, clearingm grading, and paving, utilizing both heavy-and light-duty equipment. A retainingwall reaching up to 28 ft in height in certain areas would be constructed to support the development along the northern slope. The Project would connect to water, wastewater, electrical, telephone, and gas lines in the Public Right-of-Way on La Tortuga. Construction is estimated to last between 12 and 18 months.
