Reasons for Exemption
This project is part of the design phase (Coastal Conservancy funded) for the Weston-Champagne Fish Passage Project. Per CNDDB regional records, there will be no impacts to sensitive species. All activities will be limited to dry river conditions. Test pits will be outside of the active river channel and riverbed. Each trench will have dimensions of 8ftx6ftX18in. A total 15 cubic yards of soil and gravel will be excavated between the two trenches over an impacted area of 700 square feet (includes trenching and temporary side-cast). Geotechnical pits will be dug and then backfilled with original material the day of excavation.
