Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife has executed Streambed Alteration Agreement number 1600-2019-0259-R5, pursuant to Section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to Mark Schulhof. The project is to remediate a Santa Barbara County Notice of Violation (NOV) requiring the removal of an unpermitted rock retaining wall and an unpermitted structure on Permittee’s property. The structure and 90 linear feet of the retaining wall are within the floodplain of a CDFW stream. Once removed, the slope will be recontoured to pre-disturbed conditions, stabilized with erosion control netting, and then replanted with locally native plants. Additionally, an 8-inch diameter storm-drain pipe will be installed along the slope with an outlet to the stream. The outlet will include a vegetative filter and rock for energy dissipation prior to entering the stream. The project also includes restoration along the streambank, including and in addition to the recontoured slope, in the form of nonnative plant removal and replacement with native species. The stream in this location is dry for the most part of the year and no water diversion is proposed. Project activities will be conducted using an excavator operating from outside the stream. All activities not requiring the use of the excavator will be completed using hand tools.
