Document Description
The Tehama-Glenn Unit of the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Calfire) proposes to conduct a fuel break along both sides of SR 36 in Tehama County from post mile 28.8 to 38.3. This project would be accomplished by Calfire using fire apparatus, hand tools, chainsaws and firing techniques to develop, maintain and further develop the defensible fuel profiles for the residents of Tehama County. Project work treatment methods will entail cutting brush, thinning and removing live trees (10' DBH and under) and downed trees decreasing unnatural levels of ladder fuels and burning the annual grass. Preference for trees to be left within the project area will be oak and pine trees. The total area to have fuels treatment is 169 acres and the total length is 9 miles of roadway. This project is a defensible fuels project that will benefit the citizens of Tehama County.
