Caltrans is planning to conduct a geotechnical design investigation for the South Eel River Bridge (Br. # 10-0236) located in Mendocino County on State Route 162, Postmile (PM) 8.2. Up to two borings and two Seismic Cone Penetration testing (CPT) soundings are proposed for the South Eel River Bridge. Two borings and both CPT soundings are planned to be drilled/pushed on the roadway near the shoulders. Boring and CPT depths will not be more than 100 feet. Work will be within the Caltrans right of way. No vegetation removal will occur, and any equipment staging will take place on non-vegetated gravel turn outs.
