Document Description
The Yucaipa Valley Water District (YVWD) proposed Project will consist of removal of the existing 210,000-gallon drinking water reservoir (bolted steel) and installing a new tank within the same location and footprint. The existing tank has a dimeter of 38 ft, with height of 24 feet. The replacement tank will have a capacity of 300,000 gallons and negligible expansion of dimensions measuring 47 feet in diameter and 32 feet tall. The center point of the new tank will align with the existing tank, increasing the overall dimeter of nine feet. The existing tank is approximately 40 years old and beyond repair, requiring replacement. The asset provides drinking water and fire protection to a residential community.

Notice of Exemption

Exempt Status
Categorical Exemption
Type, Section or Code
(California Code of Regulations, Title 14, Division 6, Chapter 3, Article 19, Section 15302)
Reasons for Exemption
The reservoir replacement is exempt from CEQA because the project is a replacement of an existing facility. The replacement facility will only have a negligible increase in capacity relative to the existing footprint. The slight increase will serve the existing population. The project will not require any major site grading and the construction will only take place on the previously graded pad.
