Document Description
GSOB is an invasive insect pest, which is infesting oak species within Mt. San Jacinto Slate Park. State Parks shall conduct preventive pesticide applications to prevent further spread of and suppress GSOB infestations in order to protect valuable forest habitat. This project will lake place within Mount San Jacinto Slate Park's ldyllwild and Stone Creek Campgrounds and surrounding natural open space areas excluding stale wilderness. Dinotefuran, the insecticide to be used, is brand named Safari 20 SG and manufactured by Valent. Treatment will need to take place annually until GSOB is extirpated in the ldyllwild area or an alternative is found to be effective. Tree removal if necessary, will follow best management practices, and only take place on GSOB infested trees with high-injury ratings.
