Document Description
Pursuant to Fish and Game Code section 1652, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife has approved the Mission Peak Lease Livestock Water Distribution Project submitted by San Francisco Public Utilities Commission. The Project includes installation of a spring box along 10 linear feet of stream bank to divert water from Wool Flat Spring. Approximately 17,000 linear feet of pipeline will be installed within grasslands from the spring box in the northern end of the Project area to the south end of the Project area. Along the pipeline alignment, two 5,000- gallon water tanks and eight 600-gallon water toughs will be installed. Total area of impact is 0.819 acres. The Project will provide a net benefit to CTS, CRLF, and Alameda whipsnake by introducing grazing in under grazed areas, resulting in a decrease of grass and herb height and density, allowing for easier movement and dispersal. Providing water sources to cattle within uplands, away from the drainage, will reduce grazing within the riparian area which will improve habitat for CRLF.
