Document Description
This project will assist with finalizing the design and engineering for the habitat restoration and public access amenities, and construction of public access components. The project will construct an Americans with Disability Act (ADA) compatible path (700’), a new coastal overlook with four interpretive signs, an interpretive brochure-based tour, three resting sites with benches, a 600-foot gravel wildland interface trail, a lightly developed boat launch feature, and development of a long-term management plan.

Three miles from the mouth of the Mad River is the project site; a bluff overlooking the river and coastal areas. The site is composed of disturbed grasslands with pasture grasses, shrubs, and small trees. Near the river, vegetation is dominated by willow and other riparian species. The property is within the unincorporated area of McKinleyville in Humboldt County, and owned by the McKinleyville Community Services District.
