Document Description
This fee-title project will result in the purchase of 972-acre Lewis Ranch from a single owner and create the Greenwood Creek Conservation Area. The project would conserve a large contiguous area of oak woodland and maintain the property as a working landscape and for increased managed public recreation. Other goals of this project include: expanding wildlife connectivity in the South Fork American River watersheds and provide additional wildlife-related recreation opportunities in western El Dorado County.

The project is a Transfer of Ownership of Interest In Land to Preserve Existing Natural Conditions and Historical Resources. There are multiple purposes to protecting the property, including management of the property in order to continue rangeland grazing, active vegetation management and providing guided public access for wildlife-oriented recreation. There will be no change to the primary land use and no physical alterations to the environment.
