Document Description
Repair and modify a 2,300-foot segment of the Pioneer Express Trail from south of the Beals Point Entrance Road in Folsom Lake State Recreation Area to accommodate the multi-use trail traffic that will utilize this temporary trail detour during the Folsom Dam Raise Project. Work will use a small trail dozer (SWECO), a mini-excavator, chainsaws, motorized toters, plate compacter or small roller, and a variety of hand tools to:
• Brush the trail to 8 feet wide and 10 feet high to meet State Parks multi-use vegetation clearance standards and to improve line of sight for the added trail traffic;
• Regrade the existing trail to re-establish proper outslope and drainage, and fill ruts and entrenched areas;
• Construct or reconstruct sections of the trail as needed;
• Repair or restore the trail bed to a minimum of 36-inch width and up to 60-inch width, to meet the State Parks standard for multi-use trails;
• Repair construct or install drainage features, including drain lenses and culverts as required to effect proper drainage along the trail segment; and
• Import aggregate fill to harden the tread surface on some sections of trail tread.
