Document Description
The Nature Conservancy (TNC) will use prescribed burning on approximately 203 acres at the east end of its Independence Lake Preserve. This will be a broadcast bum from mid-late October until mid-November of 2019. The environmental setting is mixed conifer forest, Jeffery pine forest, and mountain chaparral. The Preserve surrounded by the Tahoe National Forest. TNC will contract with a bum contractor - Firestorm Wildland Fire Suppression - for the bum. There will be 22 bum professionals and 3-4 fire engines on- site during the bum and mop-up. Burning and mop-up should be completed within 5 days.
