Document Description
The purpose of this project is to provide emergency repairs to one section of Poleline Road. Recent stormwater run-off has caused water to cavitate undernearth the Poleline Road corridor in one location. The undermined section is located just north of State Parks mile marker 8.1 between the County Dump Road intersection and the geothermal test well site north of the Dump. The plan for the undermined section of road is to excavate, with a backhoe tractor, approx 25' (north/south along Poleline) x 40' (width of Poleline & water entries) to the depth of the bottom of the hole (5' estimate, could be deeper). Once solid footing is established, the excavated spoils will be placed back into the excavated area in six inch lifts, compacted by a vibra-plate or "jumping-jack" compactor until the trail elevation is restored back to its original height. The final layers will be wheel-compacted by the backhoe. If necessary to maintain good tread surfacing, class II road base may be incorporated within the top six inch lift. At the discretion of the District Archaeologist, an archaeological monitor will be present during all ground-disturbing activities.
