Document Description
San Luis Field Division (SLFD) will use a backhoe or loader and hand tools to remove tumbleweeds from an area near the DWR toe road and the landowner's property. A grader will be used to push the removed tumbleweeds into piles and the piles will be turned on the next available burn day. SLFD originally proposed to stockpile the tumbleweeds between MP 143.39R and MP 144.16R. While the DWR Environmental Scientists (ES) were able to locate a potential burn area close to MP 144.16R, this location would be adjacent to the landowner's property line. Because the uprooted tumbleweeds will be more mobile, and will be able to disperse seeds, it is recommended that the vegetation be moved and stacked at an existing burn pile located in the DWR Coalinga Operation and Maintenance Center, about 0.10 miles west of the worksite SLFD and the landowner will benefit.
