This EA has been prepared for the U.S. BIA to support an application from the Twenty-Nine Palms Band of Mission Indians (Tribe) for land to be placed into federal trust (proposed action). The BIA is the federal agency charged with reviewing and approving tribal applications to take land into federal trust status. The project site, known as the 29 Palms Gas Station and Convenience Store site, consists of approx 2 acres located at the southwest corner of Highway 62 and Utah Trail, in Twentynine Palms, CA. The fee-to-trust acquisition and subsequent construction and operation of a gas station and convenience store (proposed project) to help improve and diversify the economic well-being of the Tribe.
