Document Description
The City of Redding, in cooperation with the Caltrans Division of Rail and the Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR), proposes to improve the Shasta Street and UPRR intersection between California Street and Oregon Street in Redding. Improvements include the installation of four new CPUC Standard 8 and 9-A warning devices, approx 300 lf of new sidewalk, and reconstruction/installation of approx 300 linear feel of concrete panel surfacing. The project also includes drainage improvements, pedestrian ramps, detectable warning tiles, a pavement overlay new striping, and new signs. The project would be constructed jointly by the City and UPRR, and all work would occur within the existing ROW.

The contractor will be required to prepare a lead compliance plan and water pollution control plan. Treated wood waste and materials containing lead or pesticides will be removed and disposed of at an approved facility. There are no known sensitive environmental resources within the project area that could be affected by the project. Based on an examination of this proposal, supporting information, and the above statements, the project is categorically exempt.
