Document Description
The existing chlorination station at Manhattan Wellfield uses gaseous chlorine, and has limited water volume treatment capacity. The LA Dept of Water and Power is planning on upgrading to an on-site hypochlorite generation system. The new station will be designed to treat water volume up to 30 cubic ft per second, with a much lower concentration of chlorine. The building that will house the station will be similar in size to the existing Ammoniation Station, and be located as close to it as possible. The switch from gaseous chlorine to OSHG will benefit the surrounding community by eliminating the handling and use of gaseous chlorine.
