Document Description
The proposed fire boat HW project involves construction and installation of a new, approx 16,000 sf, two-level fire boat station to be located on a steel float at Pier 22 1/2 on the northeastern San Francisco waterfront for Fire Dept fireboat and emergency response operations. The Pier 22 1/2 project site, which consists of a main pier, the historic Firehouse 35, and two finger piers to its north and south, is inadequate to meet the San Francisco Fire Dept's public service and water rescue needs. The 36-ft tall facility to be built on top of the steel float would provide space on the first level to support emergency operations, and a second level that would include a dormitory with space for 35 beds. The proposed facility would operate 24 hours per day, seven days a week, and would be staffed by both day and nighttime shifts of 10 persons.
