Document Description
The city of Eureka is proposing to surplus approx 202.3 acres of land currently owned by the city of Eureka with the intention of subsequently transferring the property to the Wiyot Tribe. The project area is currently vacant and unused. Upon transfer of ownership, the Wiyot Tribe intends the following uses of the site: 1. Ceremonies, which could include construction and use of sweat houses and dance pits at appropriate upland portions of the project area potentially including the Etpidolh Village Site and the southern Project Area. 2. Habitat restoration mainly focused on the removal of the non-native plant species Spartina densiflora within the wetland portions of the project area.
