Document Description
Conduct vegetation modification and defensible space work in Trione-Annadel State Park to reduce fire risk to structures and address boundary tree hazards. All work will be conducted following specifications detailed in the State Park document "Vegetation Modification for the Protection of Structures from Wildland Fire" and State Parks Tree Hazard guidelines for a period of five years or until conditions change. Work may be done by State Parks, or park neighbors (or their contractors) along the park boundary through issuance of Right of Entry Permits. Work Will:
Occur within the defensible space zone of 130 feet from structures, or within a distance where an identified hazard tree threatens a structure;
Remove dead trees and live trees with poor vigor or structure;
Thin trees and shrubs;
Remove ladder fuels by pruning branches on trees and shrubs up to 10 feet above ground;
Remove and/or pile burn all downed woody fuel greater than 1 inch diameter;
Lop and scatter twigs less than 1-inch diameter;
Remove dead organic matter and/or plant parts on, under, or in contact with the structure; and
Cut grass to 4 inches high or less.
All work conducted will avoid impacting sensitive species and will comply with all State and Federal environmental laws, including but not limited to the Endangered Species Act, and Sections 5024 of the Public Resources Code.
