Sierra County is considering a discretionary action to receive $500,000 from the Sierra Nevada Conservancy to fund implementation of the project, which includes fuels reduction and aspen restoration on 267-acres in the Yuba Ranger District, Tahoe National Forest. The goal of the project is to increase forest health; maintain emergency access during wildfire; protect water resources; and preserve the health of aspen stands. The project would include implementation of hand thinning on approx 131-acres to meet project objectives for fuels reduction. The project would also include implementation of hand thinning and mechanical treatments on approx 136-acres to meet project objectives for aspen restoration.
