Quinientos Street Bridge Replacement Project (Streambed Alteration Agreement No. 1600-2018-0002-R5)

CDFW has executed Streambed Alteration Agreement No. 1600-2018-0002-R5, pursuant to Section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the City of Santa Barbara represented by Sara Iza. The project, as proposed, will replace the existing Quinientos Street Bridge with a new concrete slab bridge supported on pile foundations. The new bridge will be approx. 47 feet long, 52 feet wide, and will clear span across Sycamore Creek. Activities will involve vegetation trimming and removal, side slope extension in order to maintain the existing toe-to-toe channel bottom width, rock-slope protection on banks under the bridge, water diversion if waste is present in the creek during construction, fish rescue and relocation if a water diversion is needed, utility line relocation, existing bridge demolition, placement of the new bridge, bank extension in order to maintain the existing toe-to-toe channel bottom width, and rock-slope protection on banks under the new bridge. Foundations for the new bridge will be supported by cast-in-drilled hole (CIDH) concrete piles. This may require the use of high density drilling slurry and/or temporary casings. A contingency plan will be in place prior to any use of slurry. All drilling slurry will be contained and disposed of offsite. Best management practices (BMPs) will be used to keep contaminants out of the creek. Vegetation that cannot be avoided and must be removed will be replaced in accordance with a revegetation plan. On-site restoration activities will include stream bank contouring and compaction to conform to the upstream downstream disturbance points. The following equipment is proposed for use during the project: backhoes, loaders, dump trucks, debris bins, air compressors, jackhammers, chipping guns, cutting torches, saws, light truck-mounted cranes, small earthwork equipment, crane or an excavator-mounted drill rig, crane to set rebar cages in drilled holes, utility dump trucks, an excavator, compaction equipment, concrete pump trucks, water settling tanks if needed, missing tanks, recirculating pumps ,and holding tanks.
