The project proposes to temporarily impact 1.0 acre of Diegan coastal sage scrub (staging area), 4.88 acres of freshwater marsh, and 0.12 acre of open water to remove a monoculture of cattails and stagnant water that currently serves as mosquito breeding habitat and allow a mosaic of open water, freshwater marsh, and riparian forest habitat to redevelop.
