Document Description
The existing apparatus bays at the West Point and Copperopolis Forest Fire Stations are not large enough to accommodate the new Model 34 fire engines. The apparatus bays need to be enlarged to accommodate the longer, wider fire apparatus. The project at Copperopolis will consist of limited demolition of wood siding, framing members, roofing, roll-up door and installation of new concrete and asphalt. An approx 30-ft wide section of the building will be lengthened approx 10-ft. The remainder of the building will remain unchanged. The project will take approx 12 weeks to complete.
The West Point apparatus bay cannot be safely modified, so a portion of the existing building will be demolished. An approx 20-ft by 40-ft cement slab will be poured, and an approx 20-ft by 40-ft steel building erected in the footprint of the existing building and metal carport. The steel building will replace two apparatus bays, and a metal carport. The project will include installation of two concrete aprons, sidewalks, and extension of gas, electric, water, and communication lines.
