Lassen Volcanic National Park North Fork Feather River Headwaters Fire Management Project

The Sierra Institute and Lassen National Park are proposing a landscape-scale project restoring low to moderate severity fire regimes to the wilderness headwaters of the North Fork of the Feather River. The Sierra Nevada Conservancy would provide $493,134 to Lassen NP and the Sierra Institute to implement fuel reduction strategies in three areas of Lassen NP around park infrastructure, inholdings, and along existing roads and trails in strategic locations across the headwaters. The proposed fuels reduction would reduce fuel accumulation, reduce the risk of high intensity wildfire, and restore a diverse forest composition and structure over multiple years.
