Document Description
This project consists of widening the existing paved shoulder of SR-18 to 8 feet between Jonathan Street in Adelanto PM 101.5 to 263rd Street East in northern Pinon Hills to PM 115.9. Four staging areas will be located on previously disturbed areas that will be within the temporary desert tortoise fence at Desert View Rd S side (PM 144.4), Sheep Creek Rd NE & SE side (PM 110.8), Buttemer Rd./Lessing Rd. S side (PM 106.9), Aster Rd./Monte Vista NE & SW side (PM 103) This project will result in impacts to 37.5 acres of desert tortoise (gopherus agassizii) and Mohave ground squirrel (Xerospermophilus mohavensis) habitat. The project is expected to result in incidental take of desert tortoise and Mohave ground squirrel, which are designated as a threatened species under the CESA. The ITP referenced above as issued by CDFW authorizes incidental take of species listed under CESA that may occur as a result of Project implementation.
