Document Description
The SWRCB as the lead agency will be issuing a water supply permit. The San Gabriel Valley Water Company - El Monte proposes to install an advanced oxidation treatment system to remove 1,4 Dioxane from groundwater produced in wells located at Plant W6 to comply with Division of Drinking Water regulations and serve existing development. Upgrades to the system include installation of ultraviolet (UV) treatment capable of treating a flow rate of 7,000 gallons per minute. Conveyance facilities required will be 304 linear feet of 17" diameter pipe, 111 LF of 12' diameter pipe, 100 LF of 24" diameter pipe, and 90 LF of 14" diameter pipe. The UV treatment system will be housed in a 64'x32'x23' concrete block building. A 20'x20'x16 concrete block wall enclosure will be constructed to enclose the 7,800 gallon hydrogen peroxide tank to be utilized in the UV treatment process. a new driveway and gate will be installed to provide access to the UV treatment building. Lighting will be installed within the UV treatment building, and exterior lighting will also be installed. Pipeline trenches will be excavated, then restored and recompacted with base material. The construction area is 0.2 acres within the site of the existing facilities surrounded by wrought iron fencing and concrete block walls; any staging needed can be within the existing facilities.
