Document Description
The project is for the protection of park resources, surrounding properties, park staff, and visitors from a potential catastrophic wildfire event. The scope includes the preparation, implementation, and completion of two prescribed burn areas in the Upper Doane Valley. 60 acres in the Doane Valley Meadow will undergo a prescribed burn that will utilize the trail system that surrounds the meadow to prevent possible fire spread. 90 acres on the adjacent hillside northeast of the meadow will undergo a separate prescribed burn. Areas of the perimeter that do no have trails will have 18 to 36 inches of bare mineral soil exposed in addition to mowing and clearing larger fuels. In the event of unforeseen conditions that require burning to be stopped, additional hand lines of 18 to 36 inches of bare mineral soil may need to be constructed.
