Document Description
The project consists of accepting new survey boundaries, granting an access easement to adjacent landowners (McCracken and Chamberlin), removal of a barbed wire fence, and placement of a rock barrier. The property is located on, and adjacent to, the Jackson Demonstration State Forest. A legal dispute between two adjacent landowners brought forth boundary issues on record for the property lines of the JDSC and adjacent property owners. The original boundaries were surveyed in 1867 and were used to determine several subsequent land divisions until 1979 when Peter J. Joos re-surveyed. The lawsuit over property boundaries ended in a determination by the Superior Court of Mendocino County was found in favor of the newer survey boundaries necessitating CAL FIRE to accept these boundaries and revise parcel lines accordingly, grant an access easement to the adjacent landowners, and make minor modifications through removal of a barbed wire fence and install a rock barrier.
