Document Description
Note: Review Per Lead The National Park Service, in cooperation with the Federal Hwy Administration, is proposing to reconstruct a 7.6-mi segment of Bonnie Clare Rd in Death Valley National Park from the park boundary at the CA/NV state line to its intersection with Ubehebe Crater Rd. The project is necessary b/c this section of Bonnie Clare Rd was damaged or destroyed during a major flash flood event in Oct 2015, and has been closed to the public ever since. Reconstructing of Bonnie Clare Rd is critical to the reopening of the historic Scotty's Castle for public use. The reconstructed road will generally follow the previous road alignment with some modification along curved segments and to relocate the road to an alluvial terrace outside the stream channel. The roadway vertical profile would remain unchanged for most of the project length.
