Limited widening has previously occurred in some areas within the project area. The city seeks to enhance the capacity of 40th St by widening it to four lanes (ultimate width) from Electric Ave (easternmost point) to Johnson St (westernmost point). Additionally, the city proposes to upgrade the existing traffic signal at 40th & Electric Ave with an enhanced signal and a revised sidewalk and crosswalk configuration. When the project is completed, 40th St will be a four-lane arterial street from Kendall Dr to the west and Valencia Ave to the east.
