Document Description
SWRCB as lead agency will be issuing a water supply permit. San Jose Water Company proposes to demolish and remove two existing earthen embankment water storage reservoirs (9.5 million gallons of combined storage) and replace them with 2 2.36 MG pre-stressed concrete tanks. The existing reservoirs were found to have significant structural deterioration. The proposed replacement tanks will improve facility reliability while continuing to meet max daily demands and fire flow requirements. Project construction will include performing earthwork to accommodate the new facilities, construction of tank foundations and 2 2.36 MG volume pre-stressed concrete tanks, and replacement of the pipeline conveying water to and from the tanks. The two tanks will each be 136 ft in diameter and 30 ft in height, and will be partially buried to a 4 ft depth, so the effective elevation will be 26 ft, 9 ft taller than the existing reservoirs. The existing reservoirs will be individually demolished and removed in sequence, and then newly constructed to allow for the continuous use. All construction will occur within the existing facilities boundary. This project will provide for the operation of these facilities.
