Document Description
DTSC is considering approval of a RAP, pursuant to the CA Code of Regulations, title 22 section 66264.445. The Eastwood Multiple Arch Dam was built in 1916 and has not been maintained since 1942. The EMAD is in disrepair. The USEPA and USACOE investigated the EMAD and determined that the it was unstable and in need of a retrofit to prevent a catastrophic failure of the dam and contaminated tailings flowing into downtown Jackson. The RAP evaluated four remedies to retrofit the dam and the preferred alternative is a concrete and earthen berm design. A public meeting will be held on November 8 in Jackson, CA.
