Document Description
The California Department of Toxic Substances Control, pursuant to authority granted under Chapter 6.5 of the California Health and Safety Code Section 25200 and in accordance with California Code of Regulations (CCR), Title 22, Chapter 20, has approved a Class 1* Permit Modification (CCR Title 22 section 66270.42(a)(2) and Appendix I (D)(1)(b) and (A)(1) to the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) Hazardous Waste Facility Permit for US Ecology Vernon, INC. (USEV). The purpose of the proposed permit modification is to authorize removal of seven polyethylene aboveground tanks, taking two aboveground steel tanks out of service and abandon them in place, and incorporate administrative edits that modify the 2017 hazardous waste facility permit.
The permit modification covers removal of aboveground polyethylene Tanks 28 and 30 (Capacity of 5,800 gallons each); removal of five aboveground polyethylene portable tanks (individual tank capacities of 6,100 gallons, 12,300 gallons, 5,900 gallons, 8,800 gallons, and 6,100 gallons); removal of steel above ground service Tanks 31B and 31C from service and abandonment in place (capacity of 2,300 gallons each); and administrative edits to the Part A Permit application.
