Document Description
The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission n(FERC) has required DWR to immediately perform a thorough inspection of all of FERC licensed spillways to investigate and potentially repair the structure. The new inspections are required in light of the recent emergency action at Lake Oroville, CA. The Pyramid Dam Spillway inspection will include sounding of spillway invert and walls with hammers/chain drag/declamation roller to check for concrete delamination. Preparatory work includes lowering approximately 50 sandbags with a crane in the spillway invert to reduce gate leakage, utilizing hand tools (squeegees/plastic shovels/scrapers) or pressure washer to remove algae in the spillway invert, and setting anchors and ropes for rope access inspection of controlled spillway invert. The spillway work will also include sealing concrete joints and cracks, and repairing areas of concrete spalling.
