Document Description
The University of California, San Diego and the San Diego Housing Commission (SDHC) have partnered to engage residents in the disadvantaged communities (DACs) of San Diego in the design of effective use of alternative non-potable water supplies while also expanding their understanding of the safety of the appropriate use of non-potable water. Such uses include xeriscape design, flood control, water use management, and urban agriculture. This planning activity would develop complete designs, cost estimates would integrate alternative non-potable water supplies and drought- and flood-resistant features into community greenspace, urban agriculture, and green infrastructure. Overall, this planning activity would help prepare these DACs to reduce potable water use and surface water pollution.
