Document Description
Southwest Research Institute will develop and demonstrate dedicated exhaust gas recirculation on a heavy-duty natural gas engine. The project involves research and development consisting on modifying a Cummins Westport ISX12G to operate with dedicated exhaust gas recirculation, advanced ignition systems, and an optimized turbocharger to demonstrate an increase in engine efficiency while maintaining near-zero emissions. The testing will be conducted in a 40 CFR Part 1085 compliant heavy-duty engine test cell.

This project is exempt under Cal. Code Regs., tit 14, Section 15306 because it consists of basic data collection in a laboratory environment. The engine testing will not result in a serious or major disturbance to an environmental resource.
