Document Description
DTSC has approved a Removal Action Workplan that authorizes activities to be conducted to remediate soil contamination at the 25.83 acre proposed Career and Technical Education Regional Training Center (Site). Soil on the Site is contaminated with arsenic and total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH). Preparation and approval of the RAW by DTSC is pursuant to the CA Health and Safety Code sections 25323.1 and 25356.1. Activities to be conducted pursuant to the approved RAW include excavation of contaminated soil, temporary onsite stockpiling of soil, consolidation of contaminated soil onsite, onsite capping of soil with an impervious cover and placing a land use covenant (LUC) on the property. Soil would not be transported off-site unless characterized as a hazardous waste. The proposed project is to develop approx. 150,000 sq. ft. of structures and 470 parking spaces for a new, vocational high school on a vacant site that has been used for agriculture since the 1930s.
