Document Description
This is a resource management project which looks to find a solution to the damage caused to oak trees in Cuyamaca Rancho State Park (CRSP) by Gold Spotted Oak Borer GSOB) infestations. Several oak species infested with GSOB would be cut back appropriately to promote re-sprouts which will not be susceptible to GSOB until reaching a 15" diameter trunk size at breast height (DBH). Processing of felled trees includes removing the bark from all stems and limbs greater than 8-10" in diameter and burning the biomass. Approximately 50 trees will be selected for felling. Each selected tree will have a DBH of at least 15". All trees would be flush cut witht he ground and then covered with 2-3 inches of soil.
