Project proposes to enhance and restore native grassland habitat functions and values by the removal and control of invasive plants in a portion of low gradient grassland area in the Knoxville Wildlife Area, Napa County, CA. Target invasive plants are yellow-star thistle (Centaurea solstitialis) and medusahead (Elympus cput-medusae). Plant control techniques will include a prescribed burn to kill invasive weeds and their seeds and remove dead vegetation. Following the prescribed burn, the project area will be planted with native vegetation including perennial grasses, forbs, shrubs and trees.
