Document Description
San Jaoquin County proposes to replace the Woodward Island Ferry across Middle River with an approx. 675 feet long bridge with a removable span. The proposed project is located in the Delta area of western San Joaquin County approx. 12 miles west of the city of Stockton. The new 675 feet long bridge would be located north of the existing ferry. The proposed bridge would be a seven-span bridge, with a removable span, to allow unlimited vertical clearance when the span is removed and 30 feet of vertical clearance when the span is in place. The bridge will provide uninterrupted vehicular access to Woodward Island from West Bacon Island Road while maintaining access for river traffic. The ferry ramps and underwater cable would be removed upon completion of the new bridge.
