Document Description
The project proposes to implement the SMP to remediate and abate on-site soil impacts at the former Rocketdyne plant. To remediate the site vadose zone soil to allow unrestricted land use, existing buildings and structures will need to be demolished to fully characterize, address the extent of chemical impacts under the buildings and remove identified impacts. While there are areas that have been identified as having soils with impact levels exceeding the site-specific SRGs, soil beneath the buildings is not yet fully characterized. The proposed SMP provides the framework for assessing currently-unknown soil impacts. In addition, based on recent evaluations it is estimated over 60 percent of the concrete slabs of the various on-site buildings are chemically impacted with COPCs at levels in excess of the SRGs.
